Lohr Wins Re-Election in the 26th District

It was another win for the GOP as Del. Matt Lohr defeated his opponent, attorney Gene Hart, in the race for the 26th district seat. Lohr took in the majority of votes, with 83 percent to Hart's 17 percent.

Looking at those numbers, one might think it was an easy win for Lohr, but he says it was anything but easy.

He says it took a lot of hard work and says the victory was due to a combination of the hard work of his volunteers and the unpopularity of Congress.

Lohr says the support he received means he has lots of constituents depending on him to solve Virginia's problems.

"Folks are still out of work, folks are struggling, and we need to fill the big gap we have in our state budget, without raising taxes, but we really need to help business expand and get the economy going," says Lohr.

The results were obviously disappointing night for Hart, who acknowledged it is a tough year to run as a Democrat. He's also concerned about the Commonwealth moving forward.

Hart says, "I fear the stalemate along partisan lines that doesn't serve the Commonwealth well."

Lohr says the time to celebrate is over and the time to get to work is now.
